1. Acceptance of Terms

By accessing or using RentShield at rentshield.net (the "Service"), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service ("Terms"). If you do not agree to these Terms, do not use the Service.

2. Description of Service

RentShield is an AI-powered lease analysis tool that allows users to upload residential lease documents and receive automated analysis including risk scores, flagged clauses, summaries, and general negotiation guidance. The Service is designed to help tenants better understand their lease agreements.

3. IMPORTANT DISCLAIMER — NOT LEGAL ADVICE

THE SERVICE DOES NOT PROVIDE LEGAL ADVICE. All analysis, scores, flags, summaries, and suggestions generated by RentShield are for informational and educational purposes only and do not constitute legal advice, legal representation, or a lawyer-client relationship.

RentShield's AI analysis is anchored to Pennsylvania landlord-tenant statutes and general tenant protection principles, but:

• AI analysis may contain errors, omissions, or inaccuracies.
• Laws vary by state, county, and municipality. Analysis may not reflect the specific laws applicable to your location.
• Lease interpretation depends on context, local court precedent, and specific circumstances that AI cannot fully evaluate.
• A high risk score does not necessarily mean a clause is illegal or unenforceable. A low risk score does not guarantee a clause is fair or legal.

You should consult a licensed attorney before making legal decisions based on any information provided by the Service. Do not rely solely on RentShield's analysis when negotiating, signing, or disputing a lease.

4. Eligibility

You must be at least 18 years old to use the Service. By using the Service, you represent that you are at least 18 years old and have the legal capacity to enter into these Terms.

5. Account Registration

To use the Service, you must create an account with a valid email address and password. You are responsible for:

• Maintaining the confidentiality of your login credentials.
• All activity that occurs under your account.
• Notifying us immediately at support@rentshield.net if you suspect unauthorized use of your account.

We reserve the right to suspend or terminate accounts that violate these Terms.

6. Subscription Plans and Payments

RentShield offers multiple subscription tiers:

• All payments are processed securely through Stripe. We do not store your payment information.
• Paid subscriptions renew automatically each month until canceled.
• You may cancel your subscription at any time. Cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period. No refunds are provided for partial billing periods.
• We reserve the right to change pricing with 30 days advance notice. Continued use after a price change constitutes acceptance.

7. Acceptable Use

You agree NOT to:

• Upload documents you do not have the right to share (e.g., someone else's lease without their permission).
• Use the Service to harass, threaten, or harm others.
• Attempt to gain unauthorized access to other users' accounts or data.
• Use automated tools (bots, scrapers) to access the Service without our written permission.
• Reverse engineer, decompile, or disassemble any part of the Service.
• Use the Service for any illegal purpose.
• Upload files containing malware, viruses, or malicious code.
• Misrepresent RentShield's AI analysis as professional legal advice to third parties.

8. Intellectual Property

• Our content: The Service, including its design, code, branding, and AI models, is owned by RentShield. You may not copy, modify, or redistribute any part of the Service.
• Your content: You retain ownership of all lease documents you upload. By uploading a document, you grant us a limited license to process it through our AI analysis pipeline for the sole purpose of providing the Service. We do not claim ownership of your documents.

9. Limitation of Liability

TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW:

• THE SERVICE IS PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE" WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, WHETHER EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, OR NON-INFRINGEMENT.
• WE DO NOT WARRANT THAT THE AI ANALYSIS WILL BE ACCURATE, COMPLETE, RELIABLE, OR ERROR-FREE.
• IN NO EVENT SHALL RENTSHIELD, ITS OWNER, OR ITS AFFILIATES BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO LOSS OF PROFITS, DATA, USE, OR GOODWILL, ARISING FROM YOUR USE OF OR INABILITY TO USE THE SERVICE.
• OUR TOTAL LIABILITY FOR ANY CLAIM ARISING FROM THESE TERMS OR YOUR USE OF THE SERVICE SHALL NOT EXCEED THE AMOUNT YOU PAID US IN THE TWELVE (12) MONTHS PRECEDING THE CLAIM, OR $100, WHICHEVER IS GREATER.
• YOU ACKNOWLEDGE THAT RENTSHIELD IS AN AI TOOL AND NOT A SUBSTITUTE FOR PROFESSIONAL LEGAL COUNSEL. ANY DECISIONS YOU MAKE BASED ON THE SERVICE'S OUTPUT ARE MADE AT YOUR OWN RISK.

10. Indemnification

You agree to indemnify and hold harmless RentShield and its owner from any claims, damages, losses, or expenses (including reasonable attorney's fees) arising from:

• Your use of the Service.
• Your violation of these Terms.
• Your violation of any third party's rights.
• Any decision you make based on the Service's AI analysis.

11. Account Deletion

You may request deletion of your account and all associated data at any time by contacting support@rentshield.net. Upon deletion:

• Your account will be permanently deactivated.
• Your uploaded documents, analysis results, and personal information will be deleted within 30 days.
• This action cannot be reversed.

12. Modifications to the Service

We reserve the right to modify, suspend, or discontinue any part of the Service at any time, with or without notice. We will make reasonable efforts to notify active subscribers of material changes.

13. Modifications to These Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. We will notify you of material changes by posting the updated Terms on our website and updating the "Last Updated" date. Your continued use of the Service after changes are posted constitutes acceptance.

14. Governing Law

These Terms shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania, United States, without regard to its conflict of law provisions. Any disputes arising from these Terms or the Service shall be resolved in the state or federal courts located in Philadelphia County, Pennsylvania.

15. Severability

If any provision of these Terms is found to be unenforceable, the remaining provisions will continue in full force and effect.

16. Entire Agreement

These Terms, together with our Privacy Policy and Cookie Policy, constitute the entire agreement between you and RentShield regarding the Service.
